It may be. But I’m too drained to come up with a better description than Kim on the YA Books Central blog. So I’m stealing hers.
ANNOUNCING: A new community for children’s book creators in the Central U.S.
The new community for children’s writers living in the Central U.S. is LIVE! If you live in or near (or HAVE lived in) Kansas, Missouri, Iowa or Nebraska, check out kidlit_central.
It’s a place where children’s literature lovers can share ideas, network, and promote the work of other children’s book creators in the region.
If you like what you see, please help spread the word.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “But I don’t have a Live Journal account!” Well, neither did I, until about an hour ago…but getting one is worth joining this group while it’s still all shiny and new, minions. Go forth, spread the word…and…do something else. My brain is mush this morning.

That looks so great… and wishing there was one for those of us who are further west.
“Mush Brain” is a technical term for the condition of ‘OMG its Monday – what the hell happened to my weekend’ which has been known to be terminal in some laboratory mice.
Nothing is know to cure this, however massive amounts of caffein can reduce the majority of the pain and suffering of the patient/victim.
Yes, doctor Ewoh!
How cool! I didn’t realize you found the site because of my post at YA Books Central.
By the way, Ewoh–I think a friend of mine might be starting a similar west coast group. I’ll let you know if I hear anything.
Now, off to post some book reviews. I’m so behind!
Thanks Kim. Yes I would love to know if there is a WC group.
I looked at your blog sites. Nicely done. Bookmarked.
Same with this blog.
It must have been fate, Kim.
Ewoh, you’re quickly becoming my favorite reader.
Awww… thanks. really, it is because you have a very engaging blog style that I keep coming back. That and the fact that posting here is likely to not get ‘rantish’ comments like thos from some other blogs (cough, cough).
BTW, just for clarity’s sake, my blog alias is just my name backwards (spelled and ordered). Cheap thrill, I know. I take ‘em where I can get ‘em.
I am really looking forward to reading your books when they get published. I’m a fan already just based on your blog. I’m also an aspiring novelist… both sf/f and ya. However, I am nowhere near your level at this point. Practice, research and reading all work to hone the craft… so I’m always getting better.
Aha! You sneaky man, Brian.
Thanks so much for the compliments–every word means a lot to me. It sounds like you’re headed down the path to publication. Keep it up!
If you haven’t checked out Backspace yet (www.bksp.org), do so. It has a wealth of information for free…and the forums? Like nowhere else on the net. Professional, supportive, amazing. I’m honored to be a part of it.
*grin* sneaky; funny; as long as it is entertaining.
You are welcome for the compliments. Just keep up the blog and the writing and they will keep coming. I find that no matter what someone has to say, there is a nice way and a not-so-nice way. I chose the nice way. Seems to work better for some reason
I am becoming familiar with backspace. I have not yet signed up for access to the forums yet… but I have ponied up for the conference in July.
Of course that has caused a great deal of hand-wringing and moaning on my part, because now I am committed to editing one story and finishing and editing at least the first draft of my other story as well. I used to say that I don’t suffer from insanity but actually enjoy it. Now I am not so sure
Thanks for the suggestion about backspace anyway. It really is a great resource and as soon as I can pay the dues for the forums I’ll be spending all the rest of my “free” time there as well. By hope is that between the wto writers groups, backspace, and all the research I am doing I might, just might, get my words together and tight enough to get published.
*squeal!* I get to meet you in July! Oh how cool is that??
Insanity, writing…same difference.
Good luck with your editing, Brian! A little bit of blood, sweat, tears, and elbow grease goes a long way–believe me.
