The taste of success…and brains

Taking time out of my revisions to SQUEE! with my minions. My wonderful editor loved the changes I made to Eighth Grade Bites! Of course, I couldn’t have made them without her guidance. And it amazes me that you never really realize how incredible editors are until you have one. She asks all the right questions and that, as it were, is exactly how I work best. Ask me questions and set me free, so I can work it out. We’re a good match.

Okay, enough editor gloating (for now….and have I mentioned how great my agent is? Well, he is!). Last night, I watched the most amazing movie. It was funny, sweet, sad, disgusting, and wonderful. You MUST watch it. It’s called Zombie Honeymoon. And no, you have no idea until you see it. But just trust me on this. It was awesome. (I actually sniffled a bit, something I’ve only ever done over one other zombie film–28 Days Later) Yeah, I’m a freak. I know.

And on the promotional front, I’ve given away over 300 Minion buttons now (if you want one or some or more, just email), garnered two interviews (that I’m holding out for until we get closer to publication), had several people say they’d love to review EGB, and have comprised a list of YA book reviewers that I hope to assault… *tsk, tsk* bless with ARCs when they come out. In short, we’re moving right along, my loyal minions.

Full fangs ahead!

Here is some more on the event at Disneyland:

Bats Day in the Fun Park is the annual, unauthorized goth day at Disneyland. The eighth of these is coming up this August, and has metastasized into a weekend-long festival with a conference hotel, music, and a “black market” selling gothy stuff. The event culminates with a mass riding of the Haunted Mansion and a group photo of hundreds — thousands? — of goths posing with the Mansion. I

Is there any kind of dress code?

You can dress to impress, but keep in mind that it may be very hot that day. From our previous trips we found out that Disney will not allow capes or fishnet stocking, on guys, to be worn into the park. You can try to wear them in, but keep in mind that you may be asked to take them off and place them back in you car. One of the main reasons that there is a dress code is due to the fact that Disney does not want anyone from the regular visitors mistaken any of us as one of their characters or cast members.

I wanna go to Disneyland!!! It’s SO not fair that all those little gothlings will be having fun without me. Thanks for the info, Ewoh!

And thank you, C, for just being you. :)

BAH! The first post didn’t make it…

    http://www.batsday.net/home/home.htm

    That’s all the info.

Also, I do have crash space available if visiting minions want to lower their budget for a trip…

  5. Heather Brewer says:

Thanks, Ewoh! Sadly, I can’t possibly make it this year and next year doesn’t look good either (as ‘Eighth Grade Bites’ debuts next August), but you never know!

  6. Ewoh Nairb says:

Ya know… it would be an AWESOME place to promote your book!!!!!

You want I should get you some contacts at Disneyland to see about it? One of the mothers at the daycare where my girls go works at Disneyland, and I know I could talk to her about it. I think she might even work in promotions, but I’m not sure.

  7. Heather Brewer says:

Ewoh, if you can get me contacts that lead to book promotion at Disneyland, I may just write you into my will. :)

  8. Ewoh Nairb says:

I’ll check and see what I can do :D

  9. Heather Brewer says:

    You RAWK!!!

  10. Sybir says:

We watched “Tamara” – I am not a horror movie person, but Cat is. GREAT movie. LOL.

And Ewoh (do you know how hard I had to think to write that…grrr), if you get Heather contacts for Disney, pup and I are coming out to see you AND her when she’s there!!!! Minon party!

  11. Heather Brewer says:

Oooh, Minion party!!! I’d have to say that’s a must.

Tamara *takes notes* I’m so there. Thanks Sybir (or should I thank Cat?)!

I’m making notes…Minion party. That’ll be awesome. I’m going to follow your lead and get the sticker URL and some buttons ;) Call me your shadow.

  14. Ewoh Nairb says:

    Wooooooohhhhh… shadow minions!

    Are those like the undead?

  15. Heather Brewer says:

    Awww, danka, Jax :-*

Ewoh: Shadow minions. I like that. I’m thinking that shadow minions must be the uber suppoortive minions. You know, like my shadows. :)

Sybir, don’t just get stickers–get decals (much higher quality). I went to http://www.edecals.com–superior quality, excellent customer service, great product, and good prices.
