I woke up this morning to a GIANT, SCALY CAVERN on (in?) my lip. It’s ugly. I mean waaay ugly. I’m talking poke-it-with-a-stick-just-to-see-if-it-moves ugly.
A cold sore.
My first. (Yes, really.)
Yuck.
So apart from battling the THING ON MY FACE and desperately trying to catch up on email (I SWEAR I’ll get back to you all by the end of the week!), I’m also hard at work on NINTH GRADE SUCKS , as well as excitedly awaiting two boxes of ARCs! (If you’re a reviewer, let me know and I’ll get you a copy…seriously…I’m cool like dat) NGS goes well. Vlad and I have found our groove. But it’s weird. As I’m working through these changes, I’m learning more about the entire series. And minions…you won’t see it coming.
=
Also, I’m quitting Diet Pepsi. Again. So, y’know, we’ll see how that works out. And I’m determined to organize my desk and keep it that way (which is a futile effort, I’m sure–for some reason, the organized chaos fuels me lately…okay, maybe I’m not that determined).
Wow. I live a really boring life.

What’s the problem with Diet Pepsi? You could always do Caffeine Free. ?
The probvlem comes in where I drink Diet Pepsi instead of water…which, you know, doesn’t help that whole hydration thing.
I’ve tried increasing my water intake and cutting back on the DP, but it never fails…I’m a hopeless addict.
I know there is some over-the-counter medication you can put on a cold-sore to relieve some of the symptoms, and get it to go away much faster. I don’t recall the name, but you could find something at CVS/Walgreens/Longs/etc.
The best thing to do is just to stop the DP intake and go with water. If you treat it as an addiction, I think you will be more successful.
Uh-oh. I drink Diet Pepsi. Why are you going to try to stop drinking it?
It really is an addiction for me, which is strange, because I’m not like this with anything else. I get withdrawals too–headaches, grouchiness. It’s odd.
To answer your question, Faith, I think I need to quit it just to show myself that nothing has control over me. Not even Diet Pepsi.
Yummy, cool, delicious Diet Pepsi.
Heather, is the Diet Pepsi that you drink with caffine? If so, that’s why you get head aches. My suggestion is to seek in caffine free until you’re only drinking caffine free then stop. That way you shouldn’t get headaches. My addiction use to be Diet Dr.Pepper. I only drink it once in a while now. I drink water and tea know.
Not a bad idea, Lisa. Wean myself off of it. Thanks!
No problem, good luck.
Heather:
I am telling you–five weeks coffee free, and I feel great! You can do it!
Hugs,
E
I rarely drink soda anyway, but I especially hate diet soda. Ick.
Glad NGS is so much fun!
Erica, my fellow caffeine addict! You’re an inspiration.
How’d you do it? Cold turkey? How’d you fight the grouchiness and headaches?
Wise idea, Devon.
I cut way back on Diet Coke. Now I have one in the morning and that’s it — sometimes I don’t even drink the whole can. It’s weird.
Put some Windex on that cold sore! It’ll go away. (that’s a Big Fat Greek Wedding joke, btw. I don’t want you to die)
No worries–the cold sore is contained! Have you tried the Neosporin cold sore remedy? It’s awesome, as far as plague-reversers go…
