Okay, so not all of you hate Meredith, but it did give me pause to see that so many of you do. It’s cool, though–I don’t really have an opinion of Meredith just yet. And now…the results of my “What do you think of Meredith?” poll:
66 of you voted.
6.1% (4 votes) had no idea who Meredith was (which means you either haven’t read my books–SHAME ON YOU!!!–or you felt Meredith comes off as a distant stranger.
10.6% (7 votes) thought Vlad should dump Meredith (which means you either dislike her, feel she’s ill-matched with Vlad, or you’d rather it were YOU who were dating him…).
13.6% (9 votes) loathe Meredith with every fiber of your being. (Seriously, is it the pink obsession? Cuz that’s totally not my fault…)
24.2% (16 votes) think that Meredith is the perfect girl for Vlad.
and 45.5% (30 votes) think that Meredith is okay…just okay, nothing special.
So…what this tells me is that I need to spend more time with Meredith, getting to know her as a character. I won’t tell you what will happen between she and Vlad, or if anything will actually happen at all. But I will tell you that I absolutely appreciate your honesty as I charge forth with this manuscript. Fangs so much, Minions!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with disliking any of my characters. (Well…I kinda hope you like Vlad, but other than that, it’s free reign–and you’re totally entitled to dislike him too) Can I ask what it is about her specifically that you don’t like?

Okay. it’s not so much that I hate Meredith the character, it’s more like I hate how Vlad thinks of her. It’s like I can picture pink hearts floating all around her when ever Vlad sees her. He can go on for a whole page about how beautiful she is, when to me, she sounds like a pink nightmare. It’s *really* off putting when Vlad gets all mushy.
To tell the truth, I’d really love to see Vlad find a girl who has a real personality beyond being a walking pink cloud.

Yeah like I said before maybe loath was harsh….it’s not really her that I loath. It’s Vlad ending up with her. I’d rather see him find some friends before he got the girl and I’d love to see who he ends up with as one of his good friends. You know a relationship that might just last beyond high school.
Meredith as a character and not her being with Vlad I think I see her as a popular but nice kind of person. One of those people that could end up being hated because she has “everything”

Meredith is slowly growing on me. In the EGB she was sort only an ideal, the object of Vlad’s crush, but in NGS we get to see more of her character. The part when she “rescues” Vlad from the boiler room is one of my favorite scenes. It shows that she is a really strong person and doesn’t care about what other people think about what she does or who she is friends with. Also, Vlad response was very sweet, he gladly accepts the help without trying to look like a macho jerk.
I don’t know what the future holds from them, after all any serious relationship would have to lead to Vlad disclosing his secret otherwise there could never be any trust or honesty, but I can’t wait to find out!

I really enjoyed writing the boiler room scene. It was one of those moments that surprised me. I initially had planned for Henry to come to the rescue, demonstrating that Vlad’s skills were growing….and then Meredith popped in. So yeah…i think there’s more to her. More that we’ll see as we move along.

I like Meredith, but you’re right about the two reasons that I don’t like her.
#1. she does wear wayyyyyy too much pink

It took me 4 months to read “Tenth Grade Bleeds”. I love it. I almost cried when I had to give it back. Read it or else! Joss, if you are rading this: you suck. Oh,yeah!
I happen to love Vlad and Meredith together, probably because you wouldn’t think that they would work out as a couple. (Sadly, they didn’t. Team Vlad <3 Meredith)
Anyway, Vlad and Meredith brought the best out of each other. Vlad was always really happy with Meredith, even though he sometimes didn't think that he fit it. But Meredith was always sure to let him know that she would loved him. She loved Vlad.
I think that Vlad should have told Meredith about his secret in a different way, and then she would have reacted better.
As far as Snow and Vlad, I really do not like the couple. I'm not hating on Snow, she's okay, but of course that the goth chick would end up with the vampire. .-.
I mean after all of the, "I love Meredith" stuff, Vlad went for Snow? Low blow. And I think that Meredith did act out of character by ending up with Joss…
Vlad and Meredith were just so different, but they both loved each other regardless, and they both felt like they were saved by each other.
