Catching Up With My Minions

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Greetings, Minion Horde! Thanks so much for your FANGtastic input as to where I should go on my fabulous tour – the moment my publisher lets me know officially where I’ll be going, I’ll let you know!

Okay. So. Catching up.

Auntie Heather has been crazy busy lately and under a lot of stress. Like poke-out-my-eyes-with-a-tuning-fork stress. First off, my delivery date (the date the manuscript is due to my editor, which means all written and polished and lovely) for TWELFTH GRADE KILLS was moved from March 15, 2010 to the end of this October. AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! But…I’m not complaining, because it’s for a very good reason (one that I’ll be able to share with you soon). It has added stress to my life, but I can deal, because dude…it just means Vlad and I get to spend some serious time together.

Next, it seems like I have a million things going on in my personal life. Yesterday I had an eye exam (Auntie is surrendering at last and getting glasses) and today I have some furniture being delivered. Jacob and Alex are getting ready to start school in a few weeks (sophomore year and 3rd grade) and I haven’t done much back-to-school shopping yet.

Plus, ELEVENTH GRADE BURNS is now being published in February (as opposed to June), which is AWESOME, but…that means I only have a few months to organize the big Snow Ball party I’m holding. I found a place, found an amazing cake artist, and I’m working out decorations, but I still have to hire a great DJ, hire an ice sculptor, hire a professional photographer, and figure out a menu and the best way to sell tickets. Still working out the date, BUT! You’re all invited to dress in your Snow Ball best and come party with me. It’ll be in Grand Blanc, Michigan, which is just a short drive from the airport in Detroit or even the airport in Flint. Think about how fancy Snow Ball is in the books…then think bigger. It’ll be like an icy prom! With lots of amazing contests, and books, of course…

So…that’s my life lately. Insane! But all very, very good.

P.S. Vlad is STILL on the Bookscan and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists. Fangtastic job, Minions!

I just got the bestest news from my fangtastic publicist!!! Penguin is sending me on tour!!! It’ll be a five city tour, the week of February 8th to the 14th. And…why February, you’re wondering? Because ELEVENTH GRADE BURNS is hitting stores on February 4, 2010!!!

That’s right, the publishing schedule for Vlad has changed – and I’ll tell you why sometime next week. But for now…does anybody have any suggestions on where they should send me?

Great Day, Saint Louis! (and great evening, too!)

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Tomorrow will be an exciting day, Minions. Somewhere between 10am and 11am, I’ll be appearing on KMOV’s Great Day Saint Louis, so set your DVRs! Then at 6pm, I’ll be at Saint Louis Public Library’s Schlafly Branch (225 North Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63108). I’ll have lots of Bling and you can ask me anything your lil black heart desires. :)

I hope to see at least a few of you there!

No More Vlad???

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

I’veĀ  received several emails about a blog post from a few days ago, which has apparently sparked rumors that I am no longer writing about Vlad, and that the Vlad TodĀ series ends with TENTH GRADE BLEEDS.

Minions…c’mon. Think about this. Is Auntie Heather so cruel that she would leave Vlad where she did at the end of TENTH GRADE BLEEDS? I’m twisted, but not that twisted. There will be two more books in The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: ELEVENTH GRADE BURNS and TWELFTH GRADE KILLS.

All I meant when I wrote that I can’t write solely about Vlad forever is that my mind is constantly conjuring new stories and when Vlad’s story is finally told, I hope that you’ll follow me into new characters’ lives, new characters’ stories. I love Vlad–maybe more than you can know–but one day his series will be finished, sad as the idea makes me. And that means moving on, eventually.

So…hang in there, Minions. The best is yet to come!

Oh, P.S. You should have a new forum soon. :)

Play it again, Sam…er…Vlad!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

I can’t believe it. I owe you Minions a huge helping of gratitude (I can believe that part), because TENTH GRADE BLEEDS is a Bookscan and Barnes & Noble bestseller for the second week in a row! The Minion Horde ROCKS – without you guys, none of this would be possible. THANK YOU!

I’m getting a lot of emails and messages about the forum, wondering when it’ll be open. The short answer is…soon! The long answer is…soon! :) Just keep checking back – but please, don’t abandon the blog once it’s up. If you want the fastest way to get Auntie Heather news, the blog is where it’s at! (I’m no longer doing a newsletter)

So rejoice, Minions! You’ve made Vlad very popular!!

Velcome to the new site, Minion Horde!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Yes, there have been lots of changes going on here at heatherbrewer.com. New colors, new info, new look. I know many of you adored the last site – I did too! – but it was very much Vlad-focused and since Auntie Heather doesn’t just plan on writing about our favorite fanged boy for the duration of her career, it was time for something very “me”, that I could feature all of my works on. Whatcha think?

If you’re wondering, faithful Minions, where the forum is, just hang in there! It’s coming soon, I promise. For now, I hope you’ll hang out with me on the blog while my fabulous designer works out a few more kinks.

So how has the Minion Horde been, anyway? Auntie Heather has been fangtastic! This past week, you all made me a bestseller! TENTH GRADE BLEEDS was all over the Bookscan/Nielson lists, as well as the Barnes & Noble lists. Now, I know you’re asking yourself “did we do it? Will there be a Vlad movie now?” Well, there’s a heck of a lot better chance now than there was, Minions. Hopefully those rights will be picked up soon and we can see Mr. Tod on the big screen! Keep your fingers and fangs crossed, because you never know…

Oh, btw, if you’re anywhere near Saint Louis, you should come out to Barnes & Noble in West County Mall this Saturday to see me (and pick up Bling!). Deets on my Appearances page. See you there!
