Yes, there have been lots of changes going on here at heatherbrewer.com. New colors, new info, new look. I know many of you adored the last site – I did too! – but it was very much Vlad-focused and since Auntie Heather doesn’t just plan on writing about our favorite fanged boy for the duration of her career, it was time for something very “me”, that I could feature all of my works on. Whatcha think?
If you’re wondering, faithful Minions, where the forum is, just hang in there! It’s coming soon, I promise. For now, I hope you’ll hang out with me on the blog while my fabulous designer works out a few more kinks.
So how has the Minion Horde been, anyway? Auntie Heather has been fangtastic! This past week, you all made me a bestseller! TENTH GRADE BLEEDS was all over the Bookscan/Nielson lists, as well as the Barnes & Noble lists. Now, I know you’re asking yourself “did we do it? Will there be a Vlad movie now?” Well, there’s a heck of a lot better chance now than there was, Minions. Hopefully those rights will be picked up soon and we can see Mr. Tod on the big screen! Keep your fingers and fangs crossed, because you never know…
Oh, btw, if you’re anywhere near Saint Louis, you should come out to Barnes & Noble in West County Mall this Saturday to see me (and pick up Bling!). Deets on my Appearances page. See you there!

That’s awesome everything has been going well. When I came on here the other night, I tried the forum and sat there for over five minutes clicking on every link possible and trying every way to make it pop up (my computer crashed only a few days ago, so it’s really screwed up) and I was worried there was something wrong with mine. “Hey guy’s, I found the perfect spot to stay for the next few days!†I yelled running at my fast vampire speed toward my 2 sisters.
“Cool! We’ll fallow you, Alex.†Said my sister Izzy.
“Okay and keep collecting sticks as you go along.†I replied. Bella nodded. And so we walked for about a quarter of a mile collecting sticks until we came to a perfect green clearing in the tree’s with a fresh water pond in the corner.
“PEA PODS!†Shrieked Bella. I jumped and looked where she was looking. And there was. There was a pea pod tree.
“Breathe Bella.†I said calmly. “Act like your age, 17 if I must remind.â€
“Err, sorry.†Shrugged Bella putting her bushy brownish red hair in a pony tail. “But, Izzy never acts her age, 14 ½. She acts like she’s 11!†pointed out Bella. I considered it. She had a point. I was just going to have to take charge of both their behavior. I never had for the past 4 years. I was too distracted on making sure we all survived on this odd stranded island. I was what most people would call the leader of the group. Though Bella and I are the same age, (I am a day older, so we couldn’t be twins) I just had more responsibility than her and Izzy. I suppose I always have been.
Bella then started to set up the blankets and I decided to start the fire. Once I had the fire going I decided to start dinner. The sun was starting to set and Bella and Izzy would be hungry any time now. I walked over to the pea pod tree and started picking many pea pods and putting them into our special, hand made wagon. Once I had filled the pot half way I walked over to the pond and filled the pot with ¾. Then I set the metal ‘grill’ thingy over the fire and let it sit there for a while. I then started to prepare the meat from my last night’s meal. All I had to do was take the skin off and get the meat because I had already eaten all the blood inside the doe. Once I had that done I set the pieces on the pan with a tad bit of water and set it next to the now boiling pea pods.
“Dinner’s ready!†I called to Bella and Izzy who were playing with a dead worm. They got up and ran toward me. “Ah… no,†I told them sternly. “Go wash your hands.†I said pointing to the pond. They nodded and ran toward the pond and came back in 15 seconds. They started to dig into their deer and pea pods.
“Aren’t you going to eat?†asked Izzy after finishing her pea pods.
“No, I’m going hunting in a few minutes.â€
“Sure you don’t want a snack?†bribed Bella. She was always doing that for some reason. I think she was trying to get me onto a normal human diet rather than a vampire diet, blood.
“I’m sure Bella.†I smiled. She shrugged her shoulders as if to say ‘Your loss.’
15 minutes later I said “I’m going to go hunting.†Bella and Izzy looked up from their making of pocket knives, which they had been working on for the past month or so, and was still working on making the blade super sharp.
“Bye, have fun,†they said in unison. And so I took off at my cool vampire speed toward a deer that I had smelled while saying good bye to my sisters. When I was a few yards away from the doe I slowed down and silently crept toward the fragile creature. Then, pounced. I sank my exposed fangs into warm doe’s neck and the warm blood rushed into my mouth. I began to suck holding the doe against my mouth feeling it heart thump, then flitter, then no sound at all. When I had drained the doe I dropped it where it was. I was full, satisfied. But not for long. By the next day around lunch time I would be hungry again. I decided to just jog the rest of the way back. That way I didn’t have to communicate with anyone. I really don’t like talking or interfering with anyone after I’ve hunted. This is what I’ve done for the past, 17 years of my life. Pretty much.
“Pea pods for breakfast?†I asked sleepily. Bella and Izzy nodded as they rubbed their eyes. I lifted some of the pea pods put of the pot any put it on their plates. They slowly ate their breakfast.
When Bella and Izzy finished their breakfast I said “Who wants to go swimming?â€
“Me!†said Bella
“Me!†said Izzy.
“All righty then, get 3 towels and 3 pairs of swim suits, and then we’ll be on our way!†I said happily. I loved swimming. Plus, the place that we swim at is really big, so we aren’t all cramped in one small area.
At around noon Izzy, Bella and I got out of the lake and started our trip back to the camp site for lunch, then Bella and Izzy would swim for the rest of the day while I hunted and explored the island some more.
“I’ll make Izzy and I lunch, you go ahead.†Said Bella.
“Okay, thanks,†I said brightly and thankfully. Boy was I hungry! I’ve been trying to hold my thirst down to only eating 2 times a day for the past 6 months or so. Truth be told, it was hard, unbelievably hard! But, at least I wasn’t eating my sisters. I ran off to a very woodsy area of the island to find more food. I smelled the air, fresh blood, fresh fox blood. Rare, I thought to myself as I took off toward the sweet smell. Once I was close enough, I crouched down behind a bush and slowly crept around it to find a large, wounded, male fox. I smiled to myself, easy prey. I shot over to the fox at vampire speed and bent my head down onto the wound. I felt something hard bump my head. I looked up to see a boy around my age, 17, looking up at me through long shaggy black hair. I stared at him, wide eyed; I didn’t know there were other humans, well, vampires on the island! His mouth was slightly open exposing his fangs.
“WH-Who are you?†I stammered and I slowly stood up pushing some of the hair out of my face.
“I’m Vay Vlot, and you are?â€
“Alex, Alex Franchesco.†I answered nervously.
“I’ll just assume you’re a vampire also?†he asked smirking a little.
“Yea,†I breathed. “A- Are there more people or vampires on the island?†I asked curiously.
“No, I’ve been stranded on here for 6 years. You?â€
“No, just my sisters, who are human by the way. We’ve been stranded here for 4 years.†I answered.
“Um, you can, uh, have the fox, if you want.†Vay offered.
“Oh, thanks.†I smiled. Do you want me to help you find some other food?†I asked, not wanting to be greedy.
“Sure, I’ll just wait over here.†Said Vay pointing to a tree a few yards away. I nodded an ‘Okay’ and bent down to drain the fox.
“Done.†I said a few minutes later “and I think I smell a doe just a little ways from here.†I announced.
