I’ve never had an office. When I first started writing from home, my computer was on a small desk in the living room. I got a bigger desk, we moved, but even there, I was in the dining room. Another move…and here I am, back in the dining room again. It sucks writing from here – it’s at the center of the house,with all its noise and business. And I get distracted easily. So for a few months now, I’ve been looking for an office to rent.
Only the offices I’ve found have been too expensive, sub-par, too big, too small, too far, or just plain icky. Plus, I’ve got a lot of travel planned, which would seriously cut down on the time I’d actually be in the office. Plus a million other reasons, which have lead me to…
The basement. I’m moving to the creepy, unfinished basement, complete with stud walls and cobwebs. Ew.
Still…creepy has its charm. I just wish I had an office.
Whine over. Auntie has work.

That sounds fun, I ustd to live in the basement for a while, my room upstairs was next to the bathroom and the bathroom was making me sick so they put me in the basement. I think the spiders liked that plan, cause I was eaten alive down there.

Sounds like my basement. We used to lock whoever happened to be my best friend’s current boyfriend at the time in there every Halloween until a year ago.
haha the cobwebs sound like funn!! XD Spiders get a little annoying though… i hope you.. er… have funn in the basement? hah whatever, just know i’m sending good thoughts!!
I think working in the creepy unfinished basement would be fun, in it’s own creepy way. In the future, you could write a short story about how you beat off a giant mutant spider with nothing but a keyboard

but the basement wont be that bad, after you are alone and have your music (if you write with music playing like I do with homework and writing) then you could probably flesh out five chapters or even more by the end of the day or when you call it quits! i love basements! they are so mysterios yet so fun at times! (even tho i sadly dont have one) but my friend does and every time im there i find something to discover in that underground world mystery! plus all the fun is in the basements! and if you want to no i have been eatin by a spider… its not that bad, like a rush!!!:mrgreen:

Auntie, honestly… I work from my basement too. You have a desk, while i have an inflatable airmattress. Either way, it doesnt matter. Basements are awesome places, and if u keep the lights off and just use ur computer screen for light, it helps those creepy creative juices flow :}
I dont like teh spiders! D: I freak and scream and throw things at them but I let them live and say “let your friends know that, they aren’t welcome here!” but you can fix the basement into like an awesome pad
im sure youll be able to find lots of inspireation in that creepy basement. Just dust the cob webs down so u dont get eated by big hary spiders. That would be sad.

haha…i saw a spider the size of a quater in my house when i wuz home alone with my sister and we are both terrified of them so after like 20 minutes of screaming we took turns throwing a basketball at it.. when my sis hit it it flew like 2 feet in the air from the impact! (i screamed and ran away… yet i seem to love daddy long legs!!!

At least your basement isn’t insane like mine. There’s nowhere to walk, it’s like a mini toys R us!!! Because for some reason my family doesn’t like getting rid of things. So anytime I get bored, I can go play with the barbie house or the toy kitchen =D

Well auntie Heather there is an up side to the basement…..unless it locks from the other side then I guess you could always umm make friends with the spiders (not my idea of FUN but hey for all we know the creepy lil critters might be able to talk to you……or you’re going insane…idk you take your pick) Anyways I compleatly agree I get soooooo distracted I follow butterflies around at school (and end up falling it hurts and the dirt has gotten to taste better…..yeah) sooooo I can’t wait for your new book I’d love to pre order it but im broke haha spent it all on paper.
