HOLY VLAD BUCK, BATMAN!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Life is really weird, Minions. Not just my life, but everyone’s life. Time flies by so quickly at times (say, the summer passing by) and at other times, it drags on into eternity (like, for instance, when you’re in the middle of algebra class and the bell. won’t. ring.). And I think we sometimes forget to stop and enjoy the little things. You know…like finding out we now have Vlad smilies on dollar bills.

Yeah. Even the distant memory of algebra class comas couldn’t bring me down after seeing something like that. Because DUDE!!!!!!! VLAD IS ON A DOLLAR!!! A LEGAL TENDER, AWESOMETASTIC DOLLAR!!!

So…I wanna give one away. Even though I’m soooo tempted to horde it! To enter: leave a comment saying in what fangtastic way you’ll spend your Vlad buck. I’ll choose a winner this Thursday.

EDITED TO ANNOUNCE THE FANGTASTIC MINION WHO WON THE VLAD BUCK: DeadPplKindaGrl!!! Drop me an email at heather@heatherbrewer.com with your name and address, please. YOU WON! (I chose radomly, Minions, because soooo many of your answers were too awesome for me to choose between)

Oh! And if you missed out on San Diego Comic Con 2010, you have GOT to see this!

San Diego Comic Con (aka SDCC)

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I just realized that I never blogged about how incredible Comic Con was! Which clearly means that my brain was melted by its IMMENSE AWESOMENESS. Forgive me and my melty brain, Minions!

My FANGtastic publisher sent me out to SDCC at the end of July for a lot of reasons:
1. Because they ROCK like that.
2. Because Minions tend to gather in the most nerdtastic places.
3. Because they got me on an awesome panel with peeps like Rachel Caine (Morganville Vampires), Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy), Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse/TrueBlood), and more!
4. Because they arranged an amazing interview between myself and Rachel Caine (video coming soon).
5. Because they wanted to give away a ZILLION Vlad tote bags (seriously – those bags were everywhere!).
6. Because they organized a kick-butt Fangfest party for me and other FANGtastic Penguin authors (complete with a blood type themed drink menu).
and 7. Because they wanted to show off these incredible giant hanging banners!!!

The banners were so cool! I never thought anything would live up to the awesomeness of my Vlad stairs at Book Expo America.

Anyhoo, my son Jacob accompanied me and we had a blast. But the BEST part (yes, even better than signing at Mysterious Galaxy’s booth and embarassing Jacob in public) was that Gerard Way – the man himself! – walked right past me at the Hard Rock Hotel. If I would have reached out my hand, I could have pulled his hair. (But I wouldn’t have…cuz I’m nice lke that) I was stunned spechless…which is so not like me.

But hey…at least I saw him. :)

London – It’s Brilliant, Yeah?

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Greetings, Minion Horde!!!

Cuddle up in your cute lil skull-covered blankies, Minions, because Auntie Heather has missed you soooooo much and has so many fangtastic things to tell you! As many of you know (I really should get better about blogging the deets of my life, but in case I can’t grasp that fact, you should follow me on Twitter or Facebook – links in the side bar) I recently ran away to London with my big sis. It was my first passport stamp, and it did not disappoint. We saw tons of cool stuff, did research for THE SLAYER CHRONICLES (formerly the series known as THE SLAYER JOURNALS), and got Lewis Carroll-themed tattoos. AND…the ABSOLUTE BEST PART….?

I met a Minion!

Her name is Sidney and she totally didn’t believe I am who I said I am – the great and powerful Auntie Heather. But I’m hoping she believes me now, after an ID check (no, seriously) and her pic on my blog. Sidney sounded American, which is kinda funny. I go ALL THE WAY to London to run into an American Minion. She complimented my Vlad bag. Just shows it pays to carry that smiley around with me.

Anyhoo…my family and I just officially moved into our new house (no worries, STL Minions! I’m still calling STL home). We’re busy, busy, busy. And in just over a month, TWELFTH GRADE KILLS hits the stores! (If you’ve been waiting for the paperback of ELEVENTH GRADE BURNS, wait no longer – you can find it in stores now!) ALSO…I just got my tour dates for the release of 12th. I’ll post them later today.

You may now celebrate.

Also, Minions! If you haven’t taken part in the Minion Challenges on VladTod.com, please do so now. Go forth and spread the Vlad love!
